Below is a sampling of presentations. We can tailor a presentation to suite your needs. Contact us for more information.

  • Preventing Vicarious Traumatization and Burnout in High-Stress Facilities
Vicarious trauma (VT) and burnout seem endemic to social services and healthcare. Sidran Speakers explore reasons why people select these fields and the ways in which ideals or goals may be overshadowed by the realities and stresses of the work. We look at personal and workplace-based strategies for addressing and preventing VT and managing burnout. The ideas and strategies presented help participants to recapture the inspiration that initially led them to the work.

  • Growing Beyond Survival: A Self-Help Toolkit for Managing Traumatic Stress
Sidran Speakers use this workbook to highlight the tools available to all of us to combat the traumatic stress in our lives, whether it is from primary or secondary trauma. Specific interventions are discussed and demonstrated.

  • Transforming Compassion Fatigue into Flow
Energy is our most valuable natural resource and the one thing almost every healthcare professional has too little of. Whether it is the constant demand of multi-tasking, the continual drain of needy patients, or repeated conflicts with difficult coworkers, almost every caregiver experiences the cost of caregiving as physical, emotional, and even spiritual exhaustion. Learn how to recognize early warning signs of stress and burnout and to discharge the energy of cumulative stress with Karl LaRowe and his system of Flow Motion™ (a combination of movement, breathing, and visualization techniques inspired by the ancient Chinese martial art of Qigong). Transform compassion fatigue into energy and engagement.

  • Risking Connection® in Faith Communities: A Training for Faith Leaders Supporting Trauma Survivors
Studies show that as many as one in four of the people encountered by faith leaders may have been deeply wounded by life experiences. Risking Connection in Faith Communities helps clergy and lay leaders understand the nature of psychological trauma, how it affects people, and how faith leaders can help. Sidran Speakers address the impact of trauma on the helper.

  • Risking Connection®: A Training Curriculum for Working with Survivors
This is a comprehensive program that will help you recognize your own response to trauma and learn strategies to deal with it. See www.riskingconnection.com for complete information

  • Relational Peer Support
A grassroots peer support group that is wellness-focused can be a powerful force promoting connection and hope for trauma survivors or for helpers working with them. What does it take to create an effective and safe peer support group? How should peers relate and work together in such an endeavor? This presentation answers these questions and more in the service of equipping people to create peer support groups adaptable to many settings and groups.
